Tip of the Month

Asbestos & How to Keep Track of Passwords

Bob Freeman

This months Tip_of_the_Month column is a combination of a tale of woe and a hint that Katy Trimm suggested.

I’ve been a bit behind the 8-ball the last month or so, as my house was diagnosed with asbestos about June 10, after the living room  ceiling had collapsed due to a leak in the water line that goes through the attic to the swamp cooler on the roof.

If you have a swamp cooler on your roof and the water line goes through your attic – STOP EVERYTHING YOU’RE DOING RIGHT NOW. Go re-route the water line to the outside of your house as soon as possible. This is a very common thing to have happen, and trust me, you don’t want to go through this if you don’t have to. It is no fun, and can cause a lot of damage to your house. Re-routing the water line to the outside of the house will enable the water to just dribble down the roof, like rain does, or down the side of your house, and not in your attic where it can cause a lot of problems if the line develops a crack or some other kind of leak.
